Ready To Learn- PBS Reno Children's Education

PBS Reno education outreach impacts over 57,000 students across six counties in northern Nevada and Tahoe Truckee Unified School District in northeastern California.  The PBS Reno PBS KIDS Writers Contest invites children, kindergarten through third grade to use their boundless imaginations to create original stories and illustrations. 

Kurt Mische is the President & CEO of PBS in Reno, Nevada.  He joined the station in September 2009 and leads a staff of 35.  A native of the Chicago area, Mische’s career spans 44 years in the broadcasting industry.  Mische is a member of the board of directors of the Reno + Sparks Chamber of Commerce, the Holland Project’s Community Advisory Board, and the Downtown Reno Rotary Club.  He is the current chair of California Public Television. 

Nancy Maldonado is Vice President of Education Services at PBS Reno and has 25 years of experience in the Washoe County School District as a classroom teacher and Elementary Principal.  Nancy capitalizes on her extensive leadership experience and her knowledge as a career educator to guide the Education Services department as they grow and expand their services throughout our viewing area.
