Identifying Youth and Family Addiction

David Atherton was raised in Zephyr Cove, NV. In high school he excelled at football, played junior college football, then received a partial scholarship to a division II school. He started working in the mental health field with kids ages 5-12 and then worked off and on for the next 17 years with kids, mainly in residential treatment facilities, and then 5 years for the state of Nevada with mentally ill inmates. 

He said at one point, he was addicted to pain pills and heroin for 6 years, and an alcoholic for 13 years and has been clean for 10 years now.  He recently started his own business working with individuals suffering from substance abuse issues post-rehab.
