Winter Weather Outlook in the Sierra and Northern Nevada

After a summer of heat, smoke, and no rain - many of us are eagerly looking forward to storms returning this fall and winter. I will update you on the latest winter outlook for the Sierra and Northern Nevada and go a little into the predictability of winter weather hazards in our region. We'll also have time for "Ask a Meteorologist Almost Anything" so bring your weather questions!

Chris Smallcomb is the Public Information Officer at the National Weather Service forecast office in Reno. He works with emergency management, public safety, and media partners in eastern California, the Sierra, and western Nevada to help them make good weather based decisions for the community. He's been in the NWS for 20 years and holds M.S. and B.S. degrees in Atmospheric and Oceanic Science from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. Outside of work, you’ll probably see Chris running along our many amazing mountain and desert trails, or perhaps run commuting into work during a snowstorm.
