Osher Lifelong Learning Institute
A life-long lover of musical theater and opera (a joy she learned from both of her grandfathers!), Dr. Gray is a retired Professor of Mathematics Education (San Jose State University). In addition to her teaching and research activities at SJSU, she served for many years as Associate Dean of the College of Education. She received both her M.S. in Statistics and Research Methodology (’82), and her Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology/Human Learning (’84) from Stanford University.
Dr. Gray is a past President of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at UNR where she currently teaches popular classes in Opera, Classical Music, Mathematics and Economics.
Since moving to Reno, Dr. Gray has served as President of the Nevada Opera Guild, and as Education VP on the Board of Nevada Opera. In that capacity, she organized a successful Opera Docents Program and continues to give talks and seminars on Opera in schools and community centers throughout Northern Nevada. She has also served as Director of Education on the Board of the Reno Aviation Museum.
Dr. Gray is currently Vice Chair of the internationally acclaimed Institute for Young Dramatic Voices (IYDV) whose mission is to provide an intense program of artistic, theatrical and vocal instruction, as well as international performance opportunities, for young singers with large or unusual voices. IYDV is based in Reno and has helped launch the careers of such exciting young international artists as Soloman Howard, Rachel Willis-Sorensen, Samantha Hankey, Robert Watson, Liz Baldwin, Emily Damasco, Antoni Literes and Issachah Savage.
