A 2021 analysis conducted by the Center for Biological Diversity shows that The United States creates 5.8 million tons more waste in December than in other months of the year. That’s the equivalent of 28,713 Boeing 747 airplanes. Join KTMB for a trash talk session to explore the national and local generation of municipal solid waste coming from homes and businesses, how waste is managed locally, as well as its detrimental impact on our environment, economy, and wellbeing. As the Sustainability Education Program Manager, Kimberly is responsible for promoting sustainable living and systems through KTMB’s Green Business Program, KTMB’s Recycling Guide, and Community Outreach and Education. Prior to that, she obtained her degree in Environmental Policy from UNR in 2012, spent four years teaching overseas, and served as KTMB’s Education Coordinator AmeriCorps Vista. Apart from talking about trash, Kim enjoys spending time with her husband and dog, exploring the great outdoors, and discovering new hobbies.
