OUR Place
Kim began her career at Washoe County in 2001 at the District Attorney’s office running the Child Abuse Response and Evaluations (CARES) and Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) programs. During that time, she expanded the program to include the addition of a Medical Director and 15 additional SANE Nurses. She was also the President of the Nevada Coalition Against Sexual Violence for 2 years.
In 2007 Kim moved over to Washoe County Social Services, now called Washoe County Human Services Agency. For the next 12 years Kim supervised various programs to include the medical unit, domestic violence advocates, human services support specialists, the visitation and transportation programs, and the case workers at thehomeless family shelter. She was also the President of Northern Nevada RAVE family foundation and the Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Task Force and served as a board member of Crisis Call Center, Prevent Child Abuse Nevada, and the Alliance for Victim’s Rights.
Currently, Kim is the Coordinator over OUR Place, a campus serving individual women and families experiencing homelessness. Kim served as the project lead during construction for design of the campus and buildings, as well as, purchasing and installing all the furnishings, bedding, décor, etc. Kim developed the policies and procedures for OUR Place, hired and supervises the Human Services Agency staff on the campus and manages the RISE operator contract for over 80 employees. Kim also supervises the Victim Advocate program within Human Services Agency and serves as the Co-Chair of the Domestic Violence Fatality Review Team, a position she has held for 7 years.
