Elliott Parker, State Economist

Elliott Parker teaches Comparative Economics, International Trade, and Principles of Microeconomics. He came to UNR in 1992, after he completed his Ph.D. at the University of Washington, and he has served as Associate Dean (2017-18), University Core Curriculum Director (2013-17), Department Chair (2010-13), Faculty Senate Chair (2009-10), and Co-editor of the China Economic Review (2000-04).

His current research is on international and comparative migration patterns. In addition to 33 peer-refereed articles and 78 newspaper articles, he has written two books: Nevada and the Great Recession: Looking Back, Moving Forward (University of Nevada Press, with Kate Marshall), and The Comparative Economics of Global Growth and Inequality (Great River Learning, 2018).
