WCSD Trustee

Katy Simon Holland served as the President of the Washoe County School District Board of Trustees from 2018-2020, serving 64,000 students and 8,000  employees with a total budget of $1 billion. The Washoe County School District presently ranks in the top 18% of School Districts nationwide.  She retired from full time work in 2013 after serving in local government for more than 25 years, most recently as the Washoe County (NV) Manager for 15 years.

In addition, she is the Chair of the Board of the Tahoe Fund, a successful not-for-profit organization founded in 2010 to provide private funds for matching more than $40 million in projects that restore and enhance Lake Tahoe.  She has Chaired or served as a Board member for more than 15 non-profits, and recently served as the Interim CEO of the national Alliance for Innovation to build capacity for innovation in local government.

She lives in Reno, Nevada where she and her husband enjoy kayaking, hiking, and all that Lake Tahoe and the Sierras have to offer.
