Transforming a Children's Hospital

Max Coppes, MD, PhD, MBA serves in a joint leadership role as Physician-in-Chief for Renown Children’s Hospital and the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine’s Professor and Nell J. Redfield Chair of Pediatrics. He puts children’s health at the forefront through the work of the Child Health Institute and numerous community partners.  In his role at Renown Children’s Hospital, Dr. Coppes completes the dyad model, which is a national best practice, partnering physician and administrative leadership to strengthen the focus on patients and better coordinate their continuum of care. In an effort to bring additional pediatricians to northern Nevada, Dr. Coppes hopes to implement a pediatric residency at Renown. His strong background attracts subspecialists and helps expand clinical research opportunities in children’s health.

Dr. Coppes was President of the British Columbia Cancer Agency in Vancouver, where he was responsible for six regional cancer centers and two cancer research centers.
